A famous and respected artist repainted one of my paintings and said it was his. He posted 2 versions, and in both you can clearly see the same strokes I painted! I'd recognize my painting anywhere. Besides, he just put a texture over some part of it, so the strokes are still clearly visible. When he realized this, he changed the file, and this time modified the sky.
